POSITION: Assistant Coordinator(2 positions)

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will provide assistance and support to the Technical Project Coordinator on implementation of provision of resources to schools and training of teachers in Mtwara/Zanzibar.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate preparation and implementation of TZ21 Century Basic Education Project in implementing resource dissemination in schools in Mtwara and Zanzibar.
  • Coordinate preparation and implementation of teacher training in Mtwara and Zanzibar.
  • Maintaining school records to ensure timely available required information.
  • Maintain high level of quality assurance in project activities.
  • Coordinate with other partners in TZ 21 Century Basic Education Project, government department's officers at district level
  • Monitoring and Evaluating project activities
  • Writing reports ob project activities
  • Undertaking any other lawful tasks as may be assigned by the Technical Project Coordinator and Executive Secretary of the CBP.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  •  Bachelor degree or its equivalent in Education, Publishing, Human Resources Management and Sociology, Librarianship or other related fields
  • Interests in Basic Education.
  • Interests and skills in in school libraries.
  • Knowledge in literacy matters.
  • Experience in children book production
  • Supervision and Logistic skills

THE ROLE:
You will lead the development of Social Justice Programme within the Oxfam's country programme for Tanzania. This will involve building on learning from the existing and prior pragrammes. These programmes include an accountability programme built around active citizens taking action for change(Chukua Hatua Project), an education programme where students are engaging in the accountability of the Tanzania education system to deliver a quality education (Student Baraza Project). You will coordinate and manage these teams to update and design where necesary creative and innovative approaches for facilitating governane and education projects that can have significant impact across the country. You will develop donor proposals and lead on the ongoing liaison with donors, including ensuring that donor reporting requirements are met. You will be an active member of the country management team providing leadership on the social justice programme, supporting colleagues to ensure collective ownership of and responsibility for the programme is held. You will manage a team of 7 staff and work with more than 8 partner organisation, as well as ensuring that effective monitoring evaluation and learning sytems are in place. You will also ensure that the project and other associated initiatives incorporate Gender, HIV and AIDS mainstreaming.

THE PERSON:
  • Strong knowledge, technical competence and experience with creating and delivering complex development programmes.

  • You will be culturally and politically sensitive with the ability to solve complex problems as well as influence policy and practice of other key stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
